MALAdventure at Naval

Three years ago, after a long roadtrip to North Luzon, I almost lost my best friends and second family to a horrific vehicular accident. Every year on the same date, we celebrate our extended lease on life over dinner. And as a post celebration, we go on trips together. A belief that if we travel together again it would prevent lightning from hitting the same ground twice. Call it ironic but its sorta like breaking the curse. OR, simply an excuse to get away from our crazy daily lives.

This year, we all agreed to head for Naval, Biliran, Honey's hometown. We've constantly nagged her why after 48 years of friendship she has never brought us to Naval. Finally, she has!
One thing I noticed in my travels (as if there have been many) is that every place in the Philippines has a differently styled and designed tricycle. This right here is Naval's sikad. Tacloban has the same. It's front wheels are much bigger than sikads in Cebu.
Honey's dad's ride.
Mainit Falls.
We had to climb the huge rocks to get to the best spot for swimming.
After an hour of trying to swim against the mighty strong current of the waterfall, we headed down to Mainit Spring.
When we got there, we were greeted by not only one carabao but...
a whole herd of them!
Photo op with the carabao.
Relaxing at the Mainit Hot Spring. (Redundant isn't it?) The water was boiling hot. See the bubbles?
Biliran's captivating landscape.
We visited two waterfalls that  day. Our second stop was at Tinago Falls. Tinago Falls is bigger and more commercialized.
Such a beauty, isn't it?
After conquering two waterfalls that day, I now get the logic behind the line - "don't go chasing waterfalls". It's hard man! Climbing those huge rocks up and down woke my sleeping back and leg muscles!
Farmer's sandwich.
Just one of the many treats at Jelo's Place, named after Honey's youngest brother. All their dishes are made from quality ingredients at a very affordable price. I swear, I must have gained some pounds in just two days because of over-eating. Their menu was just too irresistible. We wanted to try all! And the ice cream all over the place was very inviting.
We embarked on another eating spree. We were invited for a birthday lunch at Poro Islet. Poro is located between mainland Leyte and Biliran island. Both of the islet's ends have bridges that connect it to the two bigger islands. Above is the view from the cottage. That small island you see is the Shoe Island. Obviously, because its shaped like a shoe.
After adding inches to our waistlines, we all decided to check out the Biliran bridge. Above is the view of the water below. The spot was perfect for bungee jumping!
Now for some silly shots!
And not so silly shots.
My only question is...
Who is this guy??? LOL

Our short vacation was truly a vacay in every sense. All we did was eat, sleep and eat. Thank you to our gracious host and the entire Ang clan for the warm hospitality and your precious time. Sa uulitin! Teehee!
