Samgyeopsal on a Budget

My officemates and I are, needless to say samgyeopsal jung dock (Samgyeopsal crazy). When we heard a new Korean restaurant recently opened in A.S Fortuna Street, everyone unanimously agreed to go on a food trip. Also, it was right in time for our “Madame Golda’s” 22nd birthday. Can you spell “bangka”? We sure can and gladly! So can Madame.

We headed for Pearl Korean Meat Shop and Restaurant. They opened just April of this year. That explains its unfamiliarity among Samgyeopsal fanatics. It is conveniently situated across LH Prime along AS Fortuna Street Mandaue City and it stands next to Kyohei Noodle Shop.

Unlike other Korean restaurants, Korean Meatshop offers the cheapest Samgyeopsal in town. The usual price range for the dish is at around P200-300 per serving, with a requirement of at least two servings when you order. Others offer unlimited Samgyeopsal at P300 per pax. At Pearl Korean Meatshop, you get the same experience at P160 per serving. On the down side though, they are a bit ungenerous on the side dishes. However, that was not a problem for me as I only want kimchi, onions, a bit of greens and samjang on my Samgyeopsal.

Your P160's worth - lean cuts of pork belly, cabbage and lettuce, kimchi, a dish of stripped cabbage and spring onions, a boiling pot of kimchi jigae (kimchi soup), samjang (the red sauce) and giruem jang (the sauce with oil and pepper).
Me, still struggling with the chopsticks.

Five servings was just enough for our party. Plus uncounted refills of side dishes.
 The gang.

Pearl Korean Meatshop and Restaurant wouldn't be a meat shop if it didn't sell meat. A kilo of their bacon is at P300 for beef and P250 for pork. They also have Muksal at P230 per kilo and pork belly at P250. They are open Mondays to Sundays from 9:00am to 11:00pm. For more inquiries, you may contact them at 343-8272.
